Projectors in a Classroom with Chalk Dust

Projectors in a Classroom with Chalk Dust (It’s like wearing a parka in Las Vegas on the 4th of July) - Large screen projection displays have become a must have for many learning environments and now even the classrooms in most schools have a digital display and often times a large screen projection display. However with most every piece of digital display technology there is one item that this sophisticated piece of plastic must have – Air.
Much like the human body without a steady fresh air supply our bodies become lifeless and powerless, without air even the most advanced projection technology’s life span and ability to perform impressive tasks will be cut short.
In the classrooms of today and as sophisticated as we are, they are still plagued with all the dust and contaminates that accompany dozens of people being brought in and out of the space each day. Many Architects and AV Engineers are recommending and some requiring that a Projectors and even Flat Panel LCD, LED and Plasma Displays be placed safely inside an Enclosure. There are very few places in this world we live that are free of the environmental contaminates that seem to keep us dusting and cleaning all the time. These airborne particles are the culprit and demise of most electronic failure, especially those that generate a tremendous amount of heat; projector and digital displays when in use operating at extremely warm if not hot temperature. When electronics get hot they become a dust magnet and subsequently attract all of those tiny particles that are floating around and look for somewhere to rest for eternity.
The big deal with all of this is that as that these devices require air to cool themselves, as dust begins to fill up the tiny filters inside these projectors and displays with all of their electronic components inside the dust quickly begins to pile up and in fact insulate the heat on the components. To make it more real to you it would be like you putting on an extra shirt in the Las Vegas heat, and then tomorrow putting on a sweat shirt and finally the next day a parka.
What do you think the outcome will be? Well you will most likely wake up in the Clark County Hospital with an IV in your arm wondering why you are recovering from heat stroke.
Save your projectors life and for that matter all of your electronic equipments life; there are many options available that will reduce needless waste by preserving the lifespan of sensitive equipment. Projector Enclosures, environmental housings and enclosures for PC’s, Laptops, Plasmas, LCD and LED TV’s, monitors, displays and many other standard electronic devices that you currently use every day.

Projectors in Factory Use

Projectors in Factory Use (Put the stats where the production happens!, Projectors have long been used in business and pleasure.  Many meetings for the last ten years have been fueled with the use of projectors and most everyone has been to a movie and experienced the amazing picture that projectors can supply. In today’s market as everything is, the projection display market is growing each and every day.

No longer are projector kept tucked away in a closet or boardroom waiting to be used.  This technology now can fit in your hand for a PowerPoint presentation on your fellow airplane passengers seatback in front of you with the use of Pico Projectors using LED Light Engines.

With all this advancement we are seeing projectors installed in so many different and traditionally unconventional places including factories, warehouses, industrial plants and manufacturing facilities. Let’s look at the cost of a 142” Panasonic Plasma compared to a state of the art Large Format Digital Projection Display and you will soon see there is no comparison in any way. The one inherent downside to projection displays traditionally is the projectors themselves. Most potential clients we begin a conversation with start out with one question - “how long will the projector bulb last?”

This is actually a really viable and important question to ask for anyone that is involved in mass production of any sort. If there is one thing this group knows its production expectations over a given time period. We have worked some of the biggest manufacturers in the country and it’s not really a question of if they want the technology we offer but what is the maintenance like after the install. We have spent an enormous amount of time learning from these clients what it is that matters to them and how we can be aid and be a part of their success and it always came back to maintenance.

The solution the industry was looking for was clearly to develop technology that would reduce production downtime, increase efficiency and reduce maintenance of technology to the absolute minimum.  So we went to work testing, prototyping and more testing; wow what a few months that was but as it turns out – we actually came out of it with a profound set of ideas and strategy to accomplish the task at hand and provide a solution that would aid us in deploying large format projection screen displays to monitor and assist manufacturing and industrial plants accomplish more with less.

So many factories of all types are looking for what consumer themselves are interested in; that is information at their fingertips and right in front of their eyes at a moment’s notice and usually without having to ask for it.

SSI Displays Digital Line Management and Industrial Scoreboard Displays are now a core component of process improvement and efficiency. No longer does your staff need to wait until the end of the day to see if goals are met and targets are hit. All they need to do is look up at the gigantic digital scoreboard that is hanging above the plant floor for up to the second real time reporting and visual line display showing Production Goals, Actual Cases etc, Downtime and Error Reporting, Safety Messages,  and much more. We put the information where it is needed and that is not on paper in an office or board room at the end of the day but on the plant floor where the production is actually happening.

The benefits continue with seamless visual downtime or process failure monitoring. The second your system senses the blockage, outage or problem it is sent to the display and visually shows and tells the staff where the problem is. This dynamic and powerful method of delivering statistical reporting is great for keeping your production staff aware of their goals and shows them when, where and how to improve the process.

All this made possible with Screen Solutions Int. Brand of Projection Screens, Projector Enclosures and Turn Key Automation Display Software that can easily be integrated into your process’s; increasing production, improving employee responsiveness and morale while eliminating costly downtime.

Widescreen vs. Standard aspect ratios

When choosing a projector, TV, computer monitor or laptop screen one of the first things you will need to consider is the format of the screen that you need for you application. Traditionally these electronic display devices used a format described as “standard” 4:3 aspect ratio, but a more recent format called “widescreen” 16:9 is becoming an increasingly popular choice, especially for televisions and laptops. Whether to choose the widescreen format or standard format is an important decision because it will have a big effect on how your displayed image looks. This Bamboo AV Advice article should help you to understand the differences between standard format and widescreen to make sure you choose the format that is right for you.

Why are there two aspect ratio formats?
Historically televisions have used an aspect ratio that is close to a square shape, called 4:3 (4 units measured horizontally to every 3 units measured vertically). This is because at the time of their first production, films were also displayed using a 4:3 aspect ratio known as the “Academy ratio”. By having TV screens match this 4:3 aspect ratio, movies previously photographed on film could be viewed on regular TVs.
However, during the 1950s there was a wholesale change within the film industry to use widescreen images, brought about by reductions in the number of people going to see films at cinemas. Only recently, TVs that conform to the same 16:9 aspect ratio that film producers use have started to be manufactured. These have become extremely popular and have come down in price since their initial launch. More and more broadcasters are switching the aspect ratio of their television programmes from the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio to a 16:9 widescreen format. The revitalization of the European television industry has been largely attributed to the introduction of digital widescreen offerings.

Standard 4:3 format aspect ratio
A standard aspect ratio television screen is a TV with a resolution that matches the NTSC or PAL broadcasting standards. These TVs are designed for analog signals and use a square-like 4:3 aspect ratio. Devices with a standard 4:3 aspect ratio are incapable of outputting High Definition content. In this respect, standard format televisions are inferior to widescreen televisions, and there are many other benefits to using widescreen devices which are covered in more detail below.
Standard 4:3 television screens are gradually being phased out, as are standard definition analog television broadcasts. Within consumer electronics shops non-widescreen televisions are becoming increasingly rare. Furthermore, the majority of countries in North America and Europe now have set dates in the near future when these analog signals will be turned off permanently.
Widescreen 16:9 format aspect ratio
The widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio is the image standard of the future, designed to succeed the traditional 4:3 square aspect ratio. To take advantage of the benefits “true” widescreen can offer, you need to own both a widescreen television and videos coded in a 16:9 aspect ratio, such as High Definition television content, which only comes in widescreen format.
Although widescreen 16:9 format is synonymous with High Definition content, 16:9 is also commonly used with standard definition television and DVDs. The reason for this is because DVD film producers and TV broadcasters offer both 16:9 and 4:3 outputs.

Other display devices
  • Projector panels
Nearly every fixed resolution projector on the market at the moment uses the standard 4:3 aspect ratio. This means that the panel inside the projector, on which the desired image is to be mapped, is 1.3 times wider than it is high. Although 4:3 is currently the norm, sooner or later the 16:9 aspect ratio will take over in much the same way as it has with television sets.
  • Laptops
Initially all laptops were developed with a 4:3 aspect ratio. However, widescreen laptop screens are now becoming more prominent due to the extra 25% of screen size offered and the trend towards high definition content. Furthermore, as the surface area of the device is limited, a laptop with a wide screen is more suitable for implementing a full sized keyboard.
  • Computer monitors
Widescreen 16:9 displays are becoming increasingly popular in computer monitors due to their ability to show multiple windows on-screen at the same time. The aspect ratio that the majority of widescreen computer monitors use is actually 16:10 rather than 16:9.

The benefits of a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio
The benefits of the widescreen aspect ratio format are numerous, so it is easy to see why widescreen devices have become so popular so quickly. These benefits are summarized below.
  • The future format
In only a few years time, videos in widescreen format will be the only type available. Furthermore, widescreen televisions will soon become the only type of TV available for purchase.
  • Same size picture as films
All movies are now shot using a 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning if you have a widescreen display device the video will be displayed without the black borders present in 4:3 television screens.
  • Blu-ray format
Blu-ray is the next generation DVD format that outputs films in High Definition. To make use of this it is necessary to have a widescreen 16:9 High Definition television.
  • High definition content
High Definition content is only output in 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions of 1280×720 or 1920x1080.
  • Increased viewing area
Pictures displayed using a widescreen aspect ratio show 25% more of an image than 4:3 aspect ratio pictures.
